Back, Neck & Shoulder Massage

Tension through the back, neck and shoulders is rarely just about posture.



Of course, long hours at a desk, repetitive movement, driving, gardening and the ever-present habit of looking down at our phones can all play a part. But we can also hold an enormous amount through these areas when life feels busy, demanding or emotionally heavy. Responsibility, stress and the feeling of constantly having to “hold everything together” can all find their way into the body too.

This 60-minute treatment allows enough time for the nervous system to begin to soften, for the body to feel safe, and for us to work more deeply and effectively with the areas that need attention.

The treatment begins with you lying face down on the couch so that I can assess how your body is holding itself and notice any differences from one side to the other. I usually begin by working both sides together before moving more specifically into each side, adapting the pressure, pace and focus as we go.

Massage covers the whole back of the body from the top of the glutes, through the back, shoulders and neck, right up to the base of the skull and into the scalp. So much tension can be held around the head too, and including this area can make a real difference to the overall sense of release. If you would prefer me not to work into your hair, just let me know and I will happily adapt the treatment.

I also love to bring warmth into this treatment. My hot stones are kept ready in the cabinet and may be introduced naturally through the massage, allowing warmth to soften the tissues and help the body let go without the need to force anything.

Every treatment is completely individual. You may notice that one side receives more attention than the other, simply because that is what your body is asking for on the day.

The aim is not simply to “work out knots”, but to create enough time, warmth and care for the whole system to settle — helping you leave feeling looser, lighter and more at ease.
